Electronical Reeds opens its geographical horizons by welcoming the Japanese artist, Itokim. The DJ from the Land of the Rising Sun is one of the worthy successors of Detroit Techno and as elsewhere, it is not surprising to see him supported by DJs such as Fabrice Lig, Laurent Garnier and Rennie Foster. After being released on Night Drive Music, Nice & Nasty and Fine Art Recordings, he entrusted his Colours EP to Franco-Belgian label Electronical Reeds for its tenth release.

From the first track onwards, Calling Out For Days, Itokim plunged into the maze of Detroit Techno with a powerful kick that recalls the great classics of the Motor City. This hard yet melodic sound, unique to the world of this city, is all that richness and depth through four tracks of the EP. Itokim faithfully respects this heritage through an authentic return to the roots yet tinged with this necessary modernity.

Young Brussels-based artist and DJ, Exon Bacon is discovered in 2009 by Play Label. Since, he could find his place within this organization and plays regularly in Brussels at events such as Play, Downtown or Anarchic. Electronical Reeds is always looking for new talents and so it’s evident for the label to welcome him in its team for his first release, Crispy EP.

Since the beginning, the musical universe of this young artist is present. An efficient mix between a powerful kick, a deep spirit and melodic atmosphere, he distills his recipe in different proportions through the three tracks of this EP. Once again, Electronical Reeds meets Optional Feast and Ecco after an initial cooperation on the title Zahyara released in October of last year. This new collaboration takes the form of a “Versus EP” where each of these two artists bring their own vision of music but also provide a fresh look at the artistic work of his accomplice. Both known artists for their festive Tech House, they once more convey their talent in these four tracks of formidable efficiency on a dancefloor.

“Solaria” captivates us with its tribal rhythm and blues voice, two elements that are not as we remember the warmth that emerges from this title. Ecco, for his part, chose a very different approach. He retains the spirit and warmth but takes a more Deep, more melodic and a bit melancholy direction. Multi-faceted artist, he takes the foot against the “Deep Attitude” with “Promenons Nous Dans Les Bois” where he delivers an efficient Tech House like Marco Effe can. Optional Feast, true to his various productions, “africanizes” the track and offers a break with fatal efficiency.
